Update

I am a terrible blogger.  I'm sorry.
November is almost over and I've only posted once, so here's my recap of the last few weeks:

Lots and lots of flying and studying for flying and working and school.  I got to solo this month on November 20th, which means I went up in a plane all by myself and flew in the traffic pattern.
So much fun!!  I got to solo again today, which was fine, until just before my last landing some crazy bee decided to fly out from wherever the heck it had been hiding and fly all around the cockpit....  Freaked me out and that's the first time I've ever screamed in an airplane.  But flying is fun, I'm enjoying it still!

Let's see, what else did I do this month...  I went to two missionary farewells.  Those are always fun, going up to Ogden to see my family and friends :)  Stopped at Nielsen's Frozen Custard for Chocolate Brownie Concretes, went to the Union Station, walked around 25th street, went and saw Big Hero 6 (super cute, btw, go and see it if you haven't already!) and ended the night at La Ferrovia, which was fabulous, as always.

Also in November, I got sick.  And I'm still sick, which is no fun..  I had to buy cough meds for myself for the first time.  And wasn't that an experience.  Just imagine me, the sickly, coughing, clueless 18-year-old looking at roughly 600 (okay, maybe that's an exaggeration) different boxes of meds, trying to figure out which one works best, which one has the best price and doesn't taste like death all while coughing my lungs out and losing my voice.  Not cool man, not cool.  Probably the best (Insert sarcasm here) part of being sick was on my stage check when I had a cough attack and lost my voice so the instructor I was with had to take over the radio calls because I couldn't make them.  Luckily, I had already passed the radios part of the stage check so it was okay, but still!  It wasn't fun at all.
It's Thanksgiving break this week, which is nice.  Sleeping in, not worrying about school, it's nice :)  Yesterday got to go up to Thanksgiving Point.  I don't know about you guys, but I love museums.  And dinosaurs.  So dinosaur museums just make me super happy and I feel like I'm 5 years old again.  It's awesome :) Plus, there was this cool room where you could learn about erosion.  It was kind of like when you are a little kid and you go the park after it's just rained and there's little puddles everywhere so you make little moats everywhere?  It was exactly that but cooler :)  Wish I had taken a picture of the awesome little reservoir and canyon thing I had going, but my hands were too sandy to do so and I forgot to after I washed my hands because in the next room over there was the giant T-rex :)  And it was awesome.  There was also another room that was kind of like Space Mountain at Disneyland, ya know where it's pitch black and all you can see are stars?  It was so cool!!!!! And the cool aquatic dinosaur exhibit was also kind of like Disneyland as the different exhibits smelled different, I.E. the aquatic area smelled salty and the Jurassic Period smelled like a forest :)

My vacuum

Pretty sure the vacuum I use at work is a cat. It spits up hairballs.

10/8/2014

It's weird how I go so long without realizing I haven't blogged in like forever.  I'm waiting on some pictures to send from my phone to my computer, so there's probably going to be a secondary picture post.
So, first off, it's October.  How the heck did that happen?  I'm going to be 19 in 2 months?  How odd.  Highlights of October so far: Visited my family, made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies for a friend of my who got all the viruses I didn't know I had on my computer off for free, and Harold the black widow finally was killed yesterday :) I think I'll start with Harold.
So, there's this black widow in one of my supply closets that's always there!!!  And every time I would muster up the courage to try and squish him with my broom handle, he was always a punk and crawled under the wall.  What a jerk.  So instead I decided to name him and harass him with a spray bottle and trying to squish him for about a week.  Stupid Harold.  Spiders must not show themselves to humans if they wish to live.  Yesterday I nagged my supervisor about, "Hey, there's a deadly spider in the Fan closest (So named for the giant fan in the closet, yeah, real original, I know) Can you, I dunno, If it's not a big hassle, murder it maliciously?" We found ant and roach spray and hosed it down.  But there's no sign of a body, so we may have a zombie spider on the loose.  NOT COOL.
Mondays are actually really good days for me.  No work, I get to fly and all my missionary friends send letters!!!  I got 5 sentences this past Monday!  Yay me......   But then at the end of the night I found that I had a full 2 page letter from a really good friend.  Best end to the night ever!!!

Meant to post this last week!  Must have got busy and forgot....  Sorry all!

Another Week

Today I had to be an adult.  You all remember my, um, eventful move in day?  Remember how they said they would give me free rent?  And I got it in writing?  Last night after work I came home to a notice about overdue rent taped to my door.  So, of course I was pissed, because at 9 the leasing office is very much closed.  Skipped math today after my flight to go and talk to them and thankfully got it all worked out without too much trouble.  But it was weird, ya know, having to be an adult.  I mean I've been doing it for just over a month but still!  Strange to have reminders about how I'm all grown up.  Sometimes I feel like I was just barely 6 and I'm not sure what happened.
Anyway, this week in review:
Flying, always a joy, except Wednesday, when we didn't fly and instead did 3 hours straight of ground training.  Holy cow.  So much information about flying, different maneuvers, and emergency stuff.  Crazy how much I have to know.  I got to fly today, however.  But the wind was insane.  We were basically just being thrown around while trying to do stuff on the syllabus, like maneuvers and such.  It was hard trying to  practice stalls in turbulence.  After a while I did start to feel kind of queasy, as did my instructor.  Eventually we headed back to Provo and I did a lot of talking on the radio.  Still scary and intimidating, but I'm getting lots better.
Nothing really eventful this week except flying.  Work was work, school was school.  I finally watched the Amazing Spiderman for the first time last night.  That was cool.  Thank you free Redbox code for that experience.
Alright guys, I forgot that I actually need to eat, so I'll blog later.  Gotta get me some lunch!

Friday?

It's Friday?  Are you sure?  This week has gone by so slowly that's it's hard to tell.  It's gone by fast too, but there's just something about work and homework that makes weeks seem endless.  Plus Saturdays are basically my Fridays anyway, because that's the end of my work week :)  Then I get 2 days off and do it all over again.
Work isn't bad, kind of monotonous, but not the worst job I've had.  Cleaning bathroom floors and vacuuming random classrooms is tedious, but I get to jam out to my iPod all day long, so it's not bad.  Panic! At the Disco gets me through my work day like none other.  Yesterday, though, I felt like a traitor because I was listening to Hunter Hayes (love him!!!) But I was wearing my Scotty McCreery shirt...  oh well :)  People keep thanking me for cleaning the bathrooms, which is weird, because honestly all I do is buff floors and that's it.  No actually cleaning other than that.  So bizarre.
So now I am just stuck at the airport waiting to fly.  I tried to study, but it's tedious. And I studied last night for like ever.  I don't fly until noon, so I have another hour of being bored.  Ugh.  Might as well raid the vending machine. Adios, I'll be back.

How To Have A Study Session

3 Aviation students (The genius kid in the group + The really exhausted girl + The adorable boyfriend of said girl) + 1 Textbook + Computer Lab + Test the next day + Flight Simulators = about 45% actual studying, 5% talking about unrelated topics, and 50% screwing around on flight simulators and figuring out the effects of 100,000 ft. altitude on the Wright Flyer :)

Exactly that.

We are learning about aviation physics in class lately, and, well, this basically sums it up pretty nicely :)

I've been able to go up and fly a couple times, actually I get to fly tomorrow as well :)  It's pretty incredible.  If you have never flown an airplane, you are missing out because it is one of the most amazing things I've ever done.  It's hard, a little stressful, but I've been learning so much even though its only been like a few weeks.  I love it :)

In Memorium

9/11 was 13 years ago today.  I don't remember a whole lot of that day, but it is memorable to me.  I remember I was kept home from school, my dad's friend Brad was at our house and he couldn't go home because the airports were shut down.  Somebody burned something, and the smoke detector went off, waking me up.  I remember everyone was just watching the TV and I wish I could say more.  As I got older, everything makes more sense of what actually happened.  The towers falling, the Pentagon getting hit, all that.  It's sad, so very sad, both what happened, and the fact that I barely remember anything.  People ask me why I still want to fly planes after something like that has happened.  Do you have any idea how much stricter the FAA has made things?  It's so much safer now.  Hopefully, something to this extent will never happen again.  But since it did, my heart and prayers go out to everyone who was affected in some way by the tragedy of 9/11.

It's Thursday?

The maintenance guy is here to fix someone's blinds, I have laundry downstairs, but I don't want to leave the apartment to go take care of it, so I'm blogging.  Hi, it's been awhile.  I finally have a phone again, however, it's kind of a piece of junk, but it does phone stuff so it's cool.  School has been going well, I have a CFI (certified flight instructor) and I got to meet with him yesterday and go over the first ground lesson.  Tomorrow we meet again to do a pre-flight check and I may possibly get to fly :)  It depends on how much time we have.  I can't wait, it is going to be awesome!!!!
Anyway, I can't believe it's Thursday already.  That means I've been down here just over 3 weeks!  Crazy!!!!  Time sure flies, doesn't it.  And in 3 months, I'll be 19, which is really crazy.
Maintenance guy left!  Must do laundry!

Oh no....

This morning, my wi-fi wasn't working.  Last night my phone committed suicide.  My iPod is dead (for some reason I'm not charging it, guess I don't want it to resurrect) I have had like no contact with the outside world except via Facebook.  How did pioneers communicate without cell phones and internet?????  I don't understand!!!!    So in the mean time, I've been painting my nails Oxblood color and watching #Hashtags with Jimmy Fallon.  Yeah..

Wi-Fi

Here at the illustrious UVU, apparently there is a frickin' lot of kids.  But all my classes are at the airport so I really don't notice as there only 15 people tops who will show up to MATH 1050.  But with this enormous amount of students, they get wi-fi issues.  Today is the first time I've actually gotten the wi-fi to work, and it's only because I clicked on visitor wi-fi this time.  Come on UVU......  What is this????  Do I need to petition to have working wi-fi?  Honestly?

Also, My first day of work was yesterday, so I had to miss flight club...  not FIGHT club, but FLIGHT club.  I promise you there is a differnce.  We are allowed to talk about flight club.   'Tis not so for fight club :)  Also, we do acid in flight club (aircraft identification, not drugs)  and I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen in fight club, but nobody ever talks about fight club, so I wouldn't know.

I must be off.  Day 2 of Custodial work must commence.  I'll blog about it later.

My Apologies

I didn't realize it had been a week since I last posted.  Awkward.....  I'm sorry.  I still wish it was last week, because I wasn't sick last week, and today I am.  Which is incredibly lame.  I went and visited Ogden this past weekend, Loved it.  I didn't realize I had missed my mountain (Ben Lomond) as much as I did.  And the brothers, even though they are little turds sometimes, I missed them too.

The day I left (or sometime last week at least)  This little demon decided to visit my bathroom sink.  I just about lost it.  He is dead now.  Thank goodness he was in the sink or else I wouldn't have been able to kill him.

The only way I could get a picture with the bros is in the car with them not knowing about it.

And this was my view the way back to Orem

And my lovely mother :)

And my little brothers getting the closest thing to the Harry Potter experience as I presume they will ever get.

And finally, Laundry night was Monday...  Never again...  I was so exhausted.

Also, College dances are crazy and I'm not sure if this is typical to college dances, but ours had an ambulance and police show up Friday night, so yeah...  That happened...

And here's to hoping I am no longer sick in the morning!  Goodnight!

Post-Workout-post

Do you see this banana?  This is the worst banana I have ever eaten.  I wanted fruit after my workout and was overjoyed to discover we had bananas and I grabbed this one.  I ate most of it but I was in horror the while time because it was nasty.  I miss yummy bananas...

Ugh

Elliptical won out. But only because I'm pretty sure my body forgot track season and what exercise felt like and it was bored and now I feel like I'm gonna die after 2.18 miles on the elliptical and then jogging back home up 4 flights of stairs.  What the crap body?  Why would you do this to yourself??

Decisions, Decisions

I have all my homework done for the night, I kind of want to go elliptical at the fitness center, but my awesome cousin Courtney took me with her to Barnes and Noble today where I found a relatively cheap copy of 22 of The Sherlock Holmes Mysteries......  And I really wanna read it.....  But I need to work out.....  ugh......  What to do!!!

Adventures in Laundry

So the laundry room is right next to the mail....  Hall? Alcove? Niche? I'm not sure, but it's not a mail room.  But it's lovely decor :)  and the laundry room is the house elf quarters, and there's a cool app that doesn't quite work like I wanted it to, but it's still handy.  You can pay for laundry, see what machines are available, and it will also tell you when your laundry is done.  Which is awesome. Especially for the person who always forget about her laundry :)

Yesterday and Today

Yesterday used my crockpot for the first time.  We called it "Bowtie Alfredo" and it was delightful.  And today that is my first day of college selfie at the train station :)

My Elevator Has A Name

My Apologies

I promise I really didn't mean to let it go for so long since I last blogged.  I've been kind of busy socializing with roommates and neighborhood socials.  I've actually met people!!  I still don't know anyone really well, but I know some people!  And the single's ward down here is great!  Lots of cuties, even if the ward boundaries are a little strange.  Like there's one building where just one floor is in our ward and my whole building is in the same ward.  Weird, right?
So, I know I promised pictures.  Here you go!
I was trying so hard to not bust up laughing in front of a lot of people when I saw this on campus Thursday

These are on all the benches by the baseball field.  I sat down in one and was not hit :)  then again, there wasn't a game going on, but with my luck that's probably when I would get hit in the head, at the least likely time.

My building is full of Gryffindor stuff :)  I will get more pics, but this is just some of the cool decor.

On the Train!

Well, Day 2 has been good, albeit lonely.  Roomie Michelle was gone at work all day and she's staying with a friend tonight.  Which, actually, is what I'm doing tonight as well!  My U of U bestie, Sarah, suggested  a spur of the moment sleep over in SLC......  Which is why i'm on the train :)  Thank goodness for free Wi-Fi!!
So today, I had an interview on campus for a custodial job.  As I am without car (and I was without bus pass) I walked roughly 30 minutes there, got lost on which room said interview was in, got my UVUID (as an Aviation student, I get a really cool one that is different from the normal ID card) and my bus pass, and after walking up and down 4 different flights of stairs, I finally found it and proceeded to have this 5-minute interview.   How on earth do people have 5-minute interviews???  Like, it was nice, quick, and to the point, but really!!  I walked half an hour in pretty warm weather in shoes that had, like, no support whatsoever...  It was a little bit disappointing.  But I hope I get the job, because it's closer and pays better than the job I have now, and with the job I have now, I still haven't heard any transfer details.  Which is lame.    The train is nice though.  Quiet, big windows, its pretty great.  The automated voice is a little creepy though.  I could do without.
So I do have a few pictures from my escapades today, but I'll either post them later or tomorrow....  Mostly because I don't feel like it now ;)  And the phone blogger app is tricky.

Day One

Yesterday was moving day.  And it was insane to say the least.  I woke up that morning about quarter to 8 to hug the brothers, and finished de-Miranda-ing my room.  We got all the boxes loaded into the car and headed off.

After we reached Orem, we had lunch at P.F. Chang's, which is delicious, you should all go.

Only after this was when the craziness started.  I went to go check-in and pay rent and all that, I was given the keys to the "lovely" B318 and the absolutely adorable RA Shantelle led the way.
We got to the room and...  I don't wanna say that I just knew something was off, but something was off.  We found my bedroom anyway and proceeded to unload the car into this itty bitty bedroom.  We had just unloaded the last bit of stuff, when Shantelle showed up again with another roommate.  She seemed nice, but then the roommate Ashlynn pops out of her room and says, "I don't know if they told you, but I have a cat."

Oh. No.  I don't do cats, I'm allergic, and frankly, I just don't like them.  Of course, I told Shantelle that and she led us back down to the leasing office to get me into a new, cat-less, room.  After forever, we were led to this one room in the Harry Potter decorated building, but the roommate there had pushed the beds together, so obviously, I couldn't room there.  Quickly, we were led back to the office where we probably spent 3 hours just waiting......
Eventually, they did find me a room, with a nice roommate, Michelle.  She's pretty friendly and very chill.  So far, I like her, she's cool :)  We moved everything that we had unmoved from B318 into G418.

After a little bit of new apartment food shopping, Mom and Dad left.  But my first night here wasn't so bad.  I couldn't fall asleep (or stay asleep) for the life of me.  So here it is, 7:06 am, and I've probably been awake for a couple of hours now.  Which isn't great, but it's not horrible either.  Wish me luck on day 2!!

It's Monday

And as we all know, Mondays are lame so here is some RDJ to brighten your day.

4 days more!

Apparently, It's been awhile since I've posted.  I'm sure you are all wondering what's what as I only have 4 more days left in the northern part of Utah.  Well, I finally have roommates.  I've only been able to get in contact with one of them, and she seems nice enough.  My fingers are crossed that the others will be awesome!
The past few days have been filled with packing, ignoring how much packing I need to do, and buying many things for me to pack and take to college.  It's been fun (not!)  I'm not sure that anyone could really say that Wal-Mart is fun.....  Because it isn't, and there are always strange people there (Sometimes I am the strange person who ends up shopping there late, but whatever.  No one cares at Wally World).

And I guess that's it for now, stay tuned, however.  Because I will try to update more often.  And thank you mother for reminding me that it had been a week since I last posted.

Who reads this blog anyway?  I'm curious.

T-Minus....

14 Days!!!!  This is insane!!!  How has this summer gone by so fast?  Wasn't it just barely June?  Didn't I just graduate high school?  And now I'm moving in 2 weeks???   Wow!!!!!!!

Still no news of the roommates.  Sometime this week I should be getting the e-mail that will tell me everything I need to know about who they are and which apartment I will call home for the next few years.  I am excited, don't get me wrong, but of course I'm nervous.  New people, new place, new life, it's getting pretty insane!!!

It's coming...

Well, it appears that July has just sped by like a rocket....   And now there's only 20 days until I move into my very first apartment!  This is crazy!  I'm still really excited to move out, but with my room getting emptier and emptier as I prepare to leave, it's starting to feel very real and almost intimidating.  Hopefully, once I'm there, it won't feel so big and scary and so intimidating.  I just want to adjust and adjust quickly without any time to miss home.  Maybe I'll have party animals for roommates and they will keep me distracted :)

Hi!

Quickie first blog post,  I have to leave for work in 10 minutes.   But this is it, the blog that will document my upcoming adventures at college.  I move next month, pretty excited about that.  Yep, I will be living large in a tiny apartment with, wait for it, 5 other girls.  I have no idea who they are, but maybe they will become the sisters I never had :)  That's all!!  TTFN!  (insert Tigger laugh of choice here)
