Another Week

Today I had to be an adult.  You all remember my, um, eventful move in day?  Remember how they said they would give me free rent?  And I got it in writing?  Last night after work I came home to a notice about overdue rent taped to my door.  So, of course I was pissed, because at 9 the leasing office is very much closed.  Skipped math today after my flight to go and talk to them and thankfully got it all worked out without too much trouble.  But it was weird, ya know, having to be an adult.  I mean I've been doing it for just over a month but still!  Strange to have reminders about how I'm all grown up.  Sometimes I feel like I was just barely 6 and I'm not sure what happened.
Anyway, this week in review:
Flying, always a joy, except Wednesday, when we didn't fly and instead did 3 hours straight of ground training.  Holy cow.  So much information about flying, different maneuvers, and emergency stuff.  Crazy how much I have to know.  I got to fly today, however.  But the wind was insane.  We were basically just being thrown around while trying to do stuff on the syllabus, like maneuvers and such.  It was hard trying to  practice stalls in turbulence.  After a while I did start to feel kind of queasy, as did my instructor.  Eventually we headed back to Provo and I did a lot of talking on the radio.  Still scary and intimidating, but I'm getting lots better.
Nothing really eventful this week except flying.  Work was work, school was school.  I finally watched the Amazing Spiderman for the first time last night.  That was cool.  Thank you free Redbox code for that experience.
Alright guys, I forgot that I actually need to eat, so I'll blog later.  Gotta get me some lunch!

Friday?

It's Friday?  Are you sure?  This week has gone by so slowly that's it's hard to tell.  It's gone by fast too, but there's just something about work and homework that makes weeks seem endless.  Plus Saturdays are basically my Fridays anyway, because that's the end of my work week :)  Then I get 2 days off and do it all over again.
Work isn't bad, kind of monotonous, but not the worst job I've had.  Cleaning bathroom floors and vacuuming random classrooms is tedious, but I get to jam out to my iPod all day long, so it's not bad.  Panic! At the Disco gets me through my work day like none other.  Yesterday, though, I felt like a traitor because I was listening to Hunter Hayes (love him!!!) But I was wearing my Scotty McCreery shirt...  oh well :)  People keep thanking me for cleaning the bathrooms, which is weird, because honestly all I do is buff floors and that's it.  No actually cleaning other than that.  So bizarre.
So now I am just stuck at the airport waiting to fly.  I tried to study, but it's tedious. And I studied last night for like ever.  I don't fly until noon, so I have another hour of being bored.  Ugh.  Might as well raid the vending machine. Adios, I'll be back.

How To Have A Study Session

3 Aviation students (The genius kid in the group + The really exhausted girl + The adorable boyfriend of said girl) + 1 Textbook + Computer Lab + Test the next day + Flight Simulators = about 45% actual studying, 5% talking about unrelated topics, and 50% screwing around on flight simulators and figuring out the effects of 100,000 ft. altitude on the Wright Flyer :)

Exactly that.

We are learning about aviation physics in class lately, and, well, this basically sums it up pretty nicely :)

I've been able to go up and fly a couple times, actually I get to fly tomorrow as well :)  It's pretty incredible.  If you have never flown an airplane, you are missing out because it is one of the most amazing things I've ever done.  It's hard, a little stressful, but I've been learning so much even though its only been like a few weeks.  I love it :)

In Memorium

9/11 was 13 years ago today.  I don't remember a whole lot of that day, but it is memorable to me.  I remember I was kept home from school, my dad's friend Brad was at our house and he couldn't go home because the airports were shut down.  Somebody burned something, and the smoke detector went off, waking me up.  I remember everyone was just watching the TV and I wish I could say more.  As I got older, everything makes more sense of what actually happened.  The towers falling, the Pentagon getting hit, all that.  It's sad, so very sad, both what happened, and the fact that I barely remember anything.  People ask me why I still want to fly planes after something like that has happened.  Do you have any idea how much stricter the FAA has made things?  It's so much safer now.  Hopefully, something to this extent will never happen again.  But since it did, my heart and prayers go out to everyone who was affected in some way by the tragedy of 9/11.

It's Thursday?

The maintenance guy is here to fix someone's blinds, I have laundry downstairs, but I don't want to leave the apartment to go take care of it, so I'm blogging.  Hi, it's been awhile.  I finally have a phone again, however, it's kind of a piece of junk, but it does phone stuff so it's cool.  School has been going well, I have a CFI (certified flight instructor) and I got to meet with him yesterday and go over the first ground lesson.  Tomorrow we meet again to do a pre-flight check and I may possibly get to fly :)  It depends on how much time we have.  I can't wait, it is going to be awesome!!!!
Anyway, I can't believe it's Thursday already.  That means I've been down here just over 3 weeks!  Crazy!!!!  Time sure flies, doesn't it.  And in 3 months, I'll be 19, which is really crazy.
Maintenance guy left!  Must do laundry!

Oh no....

This morning, my wi-fi wasn't working.  Last night my phone committed suicide.  My iPod is dead (for some reason I'm not charging it, guess I don't want it to resurrect) I have had like no contact with the outside world except via Facebook.  How did pioneers communicate without cell phones and internet?????  I don't understand!!!!    So in the mean time, I've been painting my nails Oxblood color and watching #Hashtags with Jimmy Fallon.  Yeah..

Wi-Fi

Here at the illustrious UVU, apparently there is a frickin' lot of kids.  But all my classes are at the airport so I really don't notice as there only 15 people tops who will show up to MATH 1050.  But with this enormous amount of students, they get wi-fi issues.  Today is the first time I've actually gotten the wi-fi to work, and it's only because I clicked on visitor wi-fi this time.  Come on UVU......  What is this????  Do I need to petition to have working wi-fi?  Honestly?

Also, My first day of work was yesterday, so I had to miss flight club...  not FIGHT club, but FLIGHT club.  I promise you there is a differnce.  We are allowed to talk about flight club.   'Tis not so for fight club :)  Also, we do acid in flight club (aircraft identification, not drugs)  and I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen in fight club, but nobody ever talks about fight club, so I wouldn't know.

I must be off.  Day 2 of Custodial work must commence.  I'll blog about it later.

My Apologies

I didn't realize it had been a week since I last posted.  Awkward.....  I'm sorry.  I still wish it was last week, because I wasn't sick last week, and today I am.  Which is incredibly lame.  I went and visited Ogden this past weekend, Loved it.  I didn't realize I had missed my mountain (Ben Lomond) as much as I did.  And the brothers, even though they are little turds sometimes, I missed them too.

The day I left (or sometime last week at least)  This little demon decided to visit my bathroom sink.  I just about lost it.  He is dead now.  Thank goodness he was in the sink or else I wouldn't have been able to kill him.

The only way I could get a picture with the bros is in the car with them not knowing about it.

And this was my view the way back to Orem

And my lovely mother :)

And my little brothers getting the closest thing to the Harry Potter experience as I presume they will ever get.

And finally, Laundry night was Monday...  Never again...  I was so exhausted.

Also, College dances are crazy and I'm not sure if this is typical to college dances, but ours had an ambulance and police show up Friday night, so yeah...  That happened...

And here's to hoping I am no longer sick in the morning!  Goodnight!
